| Namesake: Lt Carleton B. Hutchins, CMH; KIA 2/2/38 when his PBY patrol aircraft off USS Langley collided in mid-air during fleet excercises off southern California. Hutchins stayed at the controls to enable his crew to bail out and then tried to bring his damaged aircraft down safely, but he was killed when the aircraft crashed while attempting to land. He was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously | |||||
